This is a guide to help you make your own custom signature. Your signature is how other users identify who you are on talkpages, discussion pages, etc.

When creating your signature, please follow Icaruspedia's custom signature rules.

Method One

1. Go to my preferences and type what you want your signature to appear as in the "signature" box.
   • You cannot simply just type in your username and expect a link to be created. You have to use proper coding.
     • Icaruspedia (Talk) would not work.
     • [[User:Icaruspedia|Icaruspedia]] ([[User talk:Icaruspedia|Talk]]) would work.
2. Make sure that the check box near the signature box is checked, otherwise, the coding will not work.
3. Save your preferences.
4. To use the signature, use 4 tidles. (~~~~).

Method Two

Be sure to follow these directions exactly or this will not work properly.

1. Create a page titled User:username/sig, replacing [username] with your full username.
2. Enter the necessary coding for your signature in this page.
3. Finish it off by adding the following at the end of the same line, making sure not to alter it in any way:
4. Save the page.
5. Create a second page titled User:username/sig2, again replacing [username] with your full username.
6. In this page, type only this:

   {{:User:username/sig}}

7. Save the page.
8. Go to my preferences and type the following into the "signature" box:

   {{subst:User:Username/sig2}}

9. Make sure that the "raw signatures" box is checked.
10. Save your preferences, and use with the same four tildes (~~~~) that you normally do.

Rules Regarding Signatures

Icaruspedia doesn't have much rules regarding signatures, but we do have a few. We kindly ask that you adhere to the following rules:

• If you wish to use alternate colors or fonts, make sure that they are not too distracting, and that they are easy to read, taking into account the color of the background they'll be used on.
• Please make sure all images used in signatures are less than 50x50px.
• Don't make signatures longer than it needs to be. "User (talk | contribs)" is okay - "User (talk | contribs) fclksancfk" is not.
• No "talk bubbles" or "word bubbles". Only standard signatures.
• Do not use any profanity or offensive words or phrases in your signature.
