Affiliation(s): Underworld Army
Enemy Type: Grounded

The Porcuspine, known in Japan as Yee Da (ダ・イー Da Ī ), is a new enemy introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising. It is a dangerous monster composed of solid rock that can often be found in caverns and other dark locations.

Characteristics

Despite having only two short legs, the Porcuspine has exceptional climbing ability and is able to crawl along cave walls with relative ease. Aside from its single eye, the most notable feature of this monster is the large stone shell that it wears over its figure. It has a unique ability to produce sharp blue crystals within this shell, likely by using intense heat and pressure within its body. The Porcuspine can then stick these crystals out of the shell and potentially launch them in all directions as a dangerously effective attack that can paralyze Pit if it hits him. However, despite being made of rock, this Underworld foe actually appears to be fairly weak defensively.

In Kid Icarus: Uprising

Porcuspines are uncommon enemies found mainly during land battles but sometimes during air battles. They are first found during the air battle of Magnus and the Dark Lord, where they attack Pit from atop two bridge-like rock formations in a cavern.

Idol Description

Porcuspine attacks over a wide range by shooting needles in all directions. Despite the hard look in its eyes, Porcuspine is a relatively calm and reserved monster.

Trivia

  • Oddly, a Porcuspine’s Idol description suggests that it has more than one eye, even though the creature is clearly cyclopean.
