The Chaos Kin, known in Japan as Diction of Chaos (混沌の遣い Konton no Tsukai), is the final and most deadly of the tertiary antagonist's in Kid Icarus: Uprising. It is a monster that desires to create pure chaos, and has the ability to control and steal souls.
Characteristics
The Chaos Kin, despite being a very powerful creature, is actually quite small. It resembles a cycloptic insect with with green wings and multiple red legs that allow it to move very fast. The Chaos Kin's most notable feature is its long, hook-shaped tail that allows it to dig into a person's soul and pull it right from their body.
In Kid Icarus: Uprising
The Chaos Kin is first seen when Pit destroys the Lunar Sanctum, which had served as the creature's prison, in Chapter 13: The Lunar Sanctum. Chaos Kin then zooms off and is not seen for a while.
It later appears during Chapter 18: The Ring of Chaos, which takes place three years after the events at the Lunar Sanctum. Palutena's soul has been possessed by Chaos Kin and has turned her army against the humans. In an attempt to rescue Palutena, Pit goes off to find the Lightning Chariot and uses it to break the force field around Palutena's Temple.
After the battle against Palutena in Chapter 20: Palutena's Temple, the Chaos Kin attempts to escape with Palutena, but she turns herself to stone, so that the Chaos Kin can only take her soul. During the following chapter, The Chaos Vortex, Pit and Dark Pit travel into the Chaos Kin's home, to retrieve the stolen soul. In the air battle, Pit pursues the Chaos Kin while it makes copies of itself. Eventually, the Chaos Kin is defeated in a boss battle, allowing Pit to return Palutena's soul to her body.
Unexpectedly, the Chaos Kin springs back to life at the end of the chapter and grabs Dark Pit to take him to the depths of the Chaos Vortex as an attempt to devour his soul. Pit then burns his wings while rescuing Dark Pit from the clutches of the Chaos Kin, permanently sealing it within the Chaos Vortex. It's fate after this is unknown, though it is likely still alive.
Idol Descriptions
Chaos Kin
An evil being whose strange power may even surpass that of the gods. It is mindless, only possessing the desire to cause disorder and disaster. Long sealed in the Lunar Sanctum, the Chaos Kin is suddenly free to spread anarchy.
Chaos Kin and Palutena
The Chaos Kin binds Palutena to its will, manipulating her form like a foul puppet. By doing so, the Chaos Kin simultaneously shields itself and forces Pit to attack the very goddess he serves.
Chaos Kin (Ash)
The Chaos Kin's unfathomable magic allows it to survive even being burned to ash. In this state, only possessing Dark Pit could restore it to its full power. But Pit's selfless rescue banishes the evil creature into the Chaos Vortex.

Trivia
- In Greek mythology, Chaos was the void where everything was created, including the primordial gods. This could explain the Chaos Kin's incredible power that is supposedly greater than some deities and its ability to create copies of other living things.
- The Chaos Kin is the third of the tertiary antagonist's to appear in the game, following Dark Pit and the Arum Brain.
